Rafael Nadal opposes the seeding format at Wimbledon 2019

World number two player Rafael Nadal only ranked third seed at Grand Slam pitch and could touch the world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

"Wimbledon is the only award of the year to always do what they like," Rafael Nadal told Movistar. "As the second or third seed, I still have to get the best performance to win. What's not right here is that only Wimbledon puts the seed in a way that is unlike anyone else. It not only affects me but also other players. They do not respect the ranks that players have fought to win during the season".

Wimbledon organizers seeded the ATP score plus 100% of the pitch for the players in the past 12 months and 75% of the pitch in the previous 12 months. Total score of Rafael Nadal is 8800 points, less than 180 points compared to Roger Federer - who just won the ATP Halle last week.

"The biggest candidates will still be Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and me," Nadal said. "Many young players are progressing very fast. Let's see how they show up. Wimbledon is a special tournament, which is always full of surprises".

Rafael Nadal has twice won Wimbledon, but has not reached the Grand Slam Grand Finals since 2011. After winning Roland Garros for the 12th time in early June, the Spanish player decided to rest before the next Grand Slam. World No. 2 player worries fans when admitting muscle problems during Wimbledon rehearsals.

Rafael Nadal said: "After months of not playing on the pitch, I was overwhelmed with muscle during the first training sessions. So, I decided to take a break from now until Wednesday. Playing on the pitch right after the clay season is a tough transition but also the most basic in tennis. I will try to adapt more before entering Wimbledon".
