15-year-old Cori Gauff the youngest player to qualify for Wimbledon 2019

15-year-old Cori Gauff the youngest player to qualify for Wimbledon 2019

Cori "Coco" Gauff was shocked to win three Grand Slam qualifying matches without losing a set. She become the youngest player to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon.

Young American talent lowered no.19 Greet Minnen 6-1, 6-1 in the final round of women's singles Wimbledon content, to become the youngest to win the Grand Slam main round. Earlier, in the first qualifying round, Cori Gauff also won the best seed Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov - the 94th ranked player in the world and just reached the fourth round of Roland Garros last month.

Cori Gauff, born on 2004 March 13th, is the 12th young person to be present at the main Wimbledon tournament. Eleven younger than Gauff were all judged by the special performance, not the kind of competition. "I'm still not shocked," said tennis player 301. "Competing with top players is an indescribable feeling".

Last year, Cori Gauff won the Wimbledon tournament and entered the women's singles quarter-finals, not enough for the 15-year-old to receive a special performance in this year's tournament. The last time a 15-year-old player received a wild card was in 2009, when homeowner Laura Robson was able to get straight into the first round after winning the youth tournament the previous year.

Cori Gauff is expected to be America's new "Serena Williams". The Florida player won the Roland Garros award last year. This year, Cori Gauff is also the youngest person to have won a match in Grand Slam clay courts.

"I want to be the best version of myself and the greatest player," Cori Gauff told CNN in 2017. She was the youngest at the Young Open Young Finals, at the age of 13. Eight months ago, this young talent ranked no. 874 in the world, but is now ranked 301th.
