2019 Hamburg Open: Alexander Zverev enters the quarterfinals

Alexander Zverev overcame the Federico Delbonis after 2 set 6-4, 7-6 (5) to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 in Hamburg.

While drawing 5-5 in the second set, the second seed Alexander Zverev was cracked by the opponent but was promptly reclaimed in the next game, before pulling together into the tie-break series. Beyond the 3-0 lead in a brainstorming gun battle, Alexander Zverev ended the victory at the first match-point opportunity.

Returning to the home tournament for the first time since 2016, the world No. 5 player will meet Filip Krajinovic in the upcoming quarterfinal match. Krajinovic scored 12 ace in the 6-7 (6), 7-5, 6-1 win over former 2016 champion Martin Klizan.

Elsewhere, Pablo Carreno Busta defeated No. 7 seed Jan-Lennard Struff 6-1, 7-6 (4) after 85 minutes, to have a chance to encounter 3rd seed Fabio Fognini - who passed via Rudolf Molleker 7-5, 6-4.

The 18-year-old after shocking down Leonardo Mayer in the previous round was unable to continue to surprise Fognini. Molleker broke the game when he drew 4-4 in the set 2 after a double fault, before letting the opponent win 8/10 points for the second delivery to win the final.

In the past 6 confrontations, Fognini has never won Carreno Busta, including 3 matches on clay.
