Novak Djokovic beat Lucas Pouille after 50 minutes

The world's number one player Novak Djokovic beat Lucas Pouille 6-1, 6-2 in the quarter-finals of the Japan Open 2019, today October 4th.

The quarterfinals at Ariake Stadium are considered as the most impressive performance of Djokovic, since the injury in the US Open. The Serbian player soon won two games of the ball and led fifth seed Lucas Pouille 5-1 after 20 minutes.

Novak Djokovic won the first set 6-1 and started the second set in an equally impressive way. The world's number one player led Pouille 4-0 in a one-sided game. Djokovic then loosened his hand and let the French opponent win two games in a row. But the owner of 16 Grand Slam won the last two games to close the match with a score of 6-1, 6-2 after 50 minutes.

Pouille was completely inferior in the series of durable balls in this match. Djokovic has 22 winners and only has eight self-defeating errors, less than half of Pouille (17 errors). "Nole" only lost nine points on serve, won 60% of the return points and successfully took advantage of five of the six breakpoints.

In the semi-finals, Djokovic will meet Chung Hyeon or David Goffin. The Serbian tennis player's ultimate goal is to win the ATP Japan Open for the first time, to maintain pressure on Rafael Nadal in the race among the best-performing players of the year. On the ATP scoreboard, Djokovic is only about 600 points ahead of Nadal.
