Naomi Osaka won the second consecutive WTA tournament

Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka beat Ashleigh Barty 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the WTA China Open final on October 6th.

The title at China Open is Naomi Osaka's second consecutive WTA championship after she was crowned at the Pan Pacific Open in Japan late last month. Osaka has won three awards in 2019 and five in career.

Bad delivery was the reason why Osaka lost a set in the match against Barty, but in the whole match, this was a good weapon for Japanese players. The Australian Open champions won 80% of the ballpoints in a one-hour and 50-minute match.

Osaka made two double mistakes in game 6 in the first set and lost the serve. Barty, thanks to a break-point advantage, went straight to winning 6-3 in the opening set. The same scenario was repeated in set two when game 6 was a landmark game. This time, Osaka won the game with a free kick from Barty to lead 4-2 and then won a set of 6-3.

The more Barty played, the more she drowned in the heavy shots of the Japanese opponent. The Australian player lost two games of serve in the deciding set, taking the racket at 6-3, 3-6, 2-F6 after an hour and 50 minutes.

"After the failure in the US Open, I thought about myself quite a lot," Naomi Osaka said. "I want to win again and after the last two tournaments, I think I have accomplished the goal. In the first set, I did not have a good fighting spirit but things changed in the following two sets".

Defeating Barty, Osaka won the 10th match in a row at the WTA Tour. Both Osaka and Barty have won tickets to Shenzhen, China for the WTA Finals - the tournament for the eight best players of the year. The tournament with total prize money of 14 million USD will start on October 27. The other four players who have also confirmed tickets to Shenzhen are Karolina Pliskova, Simona Halep, Bianca Andreescu, and Petra Kvitova.
