Daniil Medvedev officially quits the Kremlin Cup, attending the Vienna Open

The 2019 Shanghai Masters champion Daniil Medvedev has announced that he will not attend the Kremlin Cup in his home town of Moscow to give his body a break.

"I feel very tired after reaching 6 consecutive finals. My physical strength is currently not at 100%. As a professional tennis player, I cannot play in an unstable physical condition", Daniil Medvedev shared.

The 23-year-old holds the record for most wins this season with a total of 59 victories, including 46 on hard court and 22 in Masters. In Shanghai over the weekend, Daniil Medvedev added another Masters title to his collection, following his Cincinnati championship in August.

"It's a shame I can't play in Moscow in front of the home crowd. I've been here for 4 years in a row and the results are getting better. In this situation, I have no other choice", Medvedev added.

The Shanghai Masters 2019 title helped Daniil Medvedev overcome Roger Federer to climb to third place in the race to London for the ATP Finals in the middle of next month. The Russian tennis player will have his first tournament debut for the 8 best faces.

"I never dreamed of winning six finals in a row. One of them was in the Grand Slam, and three in the Masters. I beat Federer in the race to London is something I never thought of".

According to the schedule, Daniil Medvedev will attend the ATP 500 tournament: Vienna Open 2019 in Vienna, Austria next week (from October 21-27).
