2019 European Open: Andy Murray won the first match in Antwerp easily

Former No. 1 player Andy Murray in the world won the first match of the ATP 250 in Antwerp, Belgium this week (October 14-20).

Andy Murray saved 4/6 break-point in the face, before beating home host Kimmer Coppejans 6-4, 7-6 (4) after 1 hour 44 minutes.

Murray will meet No. 8 seed Pablo Cuevas or Hugo Dellien in the next round 2nd match. While the 32-year-old has won both Cuevas matches, Dellien will be their first meeting.

Elsewhere, Jan-Lennard Struff only needed 44 minutes to overcome the French Gregoire Barrere 6-2, 6-1. The No. 7 seed wins the first serve with 23/24 points, and successfully converts 5/7 break-points. Struff has reached the quarter-finals in the last two visits to Antwerp, in 2016 and 2018.

Gilles Simon lost only 2 games in the match against Steve Darcis to win tickets, when he won 6-1, 6-2. The Frenchman will face off against former 2017 tournament champion Jo Wilfried Tsonga to compete for the quarter-finals.
