Presidents Cup 2019 preview: Tiger Woods is expected to compete

Adam Scott believes that the team golf tournament between the United States and the international team would be better if Tiger Woods played.

Having been in the international squad for nearly 20 years, Adam Scott answered without hesitation when asked whether Tiger Woods should play as captain, in a confrontation between the two sides at Royal Melbourne Stadium later this year.

"As a Tiger, there must be him!", Scott said. "The tournament will be better if he plays, even if only two games are played. I guess Tiger Woods will have to decide if it is good for the home team".

According to the owner of The Masters 2013, if there is a single confrontation between him and Woods in Melbourne in December, it will be an unbelievable memory of his career.

After being crowned at The Masters 2019 in April, "Super Tiger" is expected to fill in the competition. However, the decline in form many months later, as well as last month's knee surgery, made this even more obscure. Woods plans to play a maximum of two PGA Tour tournaments before the war in Australia, including the Zozo Championship as promised and possibly the Hero World Challenge.

Similar to the international team led by Ernie Els, the United States has four vacancies left to be chosen by the captain with candidates such as Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Reed, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson and Gary Woodland. The two sides will close a 12-man squad in early November.

The Presidents Cup was first held in 1994, with a bi-annual cycle. In the history of 12 confrontations, the US won 10 times and the only draw in 2003.
