Nguyen Cong Phuong assisted a goal in the friendly match of Sint-Truiden

The 24-year-old striker Nguyen Cong Phuong passed the ball to Yuma Suzuki to score a goal against Charleroi 2-4 at home on August 6th.

Nguyen Cong Phuong led the ball right on the right into the box, then made a fake move to get past the defender. Having a chance to finish, he still stretched to give Suzuki a cushion into the empty net. Suzuki scored twice in this match, but Sint-Truiden still lost to the ninth-placed in the Belgian championship.

This is Suzuki's first match for Sint-Truiden, despite joining from July 2019. The Japanese striker has been injured since 12/2018 and has just returned to play. He is expected to improve the club's publicity at the Stayen Stadium, having scored 11 goals for Kashima Antlers in the J-League last season.

The training match with Charleroi was the occasion for Marc Brys to test his squad. The opportunity is given to the reserve players or little players in the first team, including Nguyen Cong Phuong or Suzuki.

Sint-Truiden's next match at the Belgian Championship takes place on Sunday, August 1th. They played at home to Standard Liege - the team won two first rounds. Meanwhile, Sint-Truiden lost both the first round and has not scored yet. Nguyen Cong Phuong came on for about 20 minutes at the game against Brugge last weekend.
