FIFA, on July 31th, announced the list of the 10 most prestigious individual award players in 2019, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi & Virgil Van Dijk.

The list is compiled by a team of experts, based on the players' performance from July 16th, 2018 to July 19th, 2019. Besides the stars Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk, the list also includes former players Ajax, Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.

These are two young players to help Ajax to the Champions League semi-final. De Jong then moved to Barca, while De Ligt is now Juventus.

Liverpool have two other nominated players: Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The rest are Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Eden Hazard - who recently switched from Chelsea to Real and PSG's young Kylian Mbappe.

10 nominated players won all important titles of European football last season, except the Premier League. This playground champion - Man City - no players have been nominated despite successfully defending the throne.

Lionel Messi and Ronaldo have frequently been on the Best Best nominees list, since the award was released in 2016. Ronaldo has twice won this award in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, the prize belongs to Luka Modric. In the previous season, Ronaldo won Serie A, Messi won La Liga and won the European Golden Shoe.

This score then incorporates the points gained from the vote of "key players of the football community", including journalists, coaches and captain of the national team.

After that, the list will be shortened to three people. On September 23th, The Best awards ceremony held in Milan will announce the award's owner.
