Nguyen Cong Phuong's new club Sint-Truidense sells Japanese defenders for a record price

Nguyen Cong Phuong will not have a chance to play with defender Takehiro Tomiyasu at the new club Sint-Truidense, because the player has moved to Italy to play.

Belgian club confirmed Takehiro Tomiyasu will move to Bologna next season for 7 million euros. The contract has a term of 5 years, the salary of this midfielder has not been disclosed.

This is the most expensive player selling contract in Belgian football history. Earlier, the record price belonged to defender Casper Norre with a contract fee of 5 million euros to Genk.

Italian newspapers also confirmed that the deal has come true. Negotiations between Sint-Truidense and Bologna took place earlier, but the deal was completed. In the past, Tomiyasu was busy competing in 2019 Copa America with Japan.

Tomiyasu will be the 11th Japanese player in Serie A history, following in the footsteps of Shunsuke Nakamura, Keisuke Honda or Yuto Nagatomo.

At the age of 20, Tomiyasu has had 20 caps for Japanese jerseys and is one of the best central defenders of the land of the rising sun. According to Transfermarkt, Tomiyasu costs 10 million euros. He will also be Bologna's most expensive defender in the 2019/20 season.

Bologna - the new team of Tomiyasu - is the fifth richest club in Italian football history. Bologna won 7 Serie A championships in history, only behind Juventus, Inter, Milan and Genoa. Last season, Bologna ranked 10th in the Serie A rankings.
