OFFICIAL: Vietnam - Iraq match canceled due to coronavirus

Iraq team decided not to travel to Vietnam to play the exhibition match after considering the risks of the coronavirus outbreak.

Initially, the exhibition match between Vietnam and Iraq was scheduled to kick off at the end of March.

However, it was canceled because of the Iraqi team did not want to take the risk of suffering from the coronavirus outbreak, especially when there were some Vietnamese people who were infected.

According to Le Hoai Anh, General Secretary of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vietnam accepted the withdrawal of the Iraq team.

As a result, they had to reschedule the 2020 fixture, which made Park Hang Seo manage to find another team to play with before competing at the qualification round of the 2022 World Cup.

In the second preliminary round, the Vietnam team is dominating Group G with 11 points gained in 5 matches.

Before Iraq, Panama also canceled a friendly match with Thailand due to considering the risk of the infection of coronavirus.

Initially, Panama accepted Thailand's offer to play an exhibition match in Songkhla on 30 March, coming after the match between War Elephants and Indonesia in the second preliminary round of the World Cup qualification.

In terms of the Thailand team, coach Nishino Akira believed that it was a good chance for his players to improve their performance to take the leading place of Group G from Vietnam.
