The Thai Football Association has just announced that Mr. Akira Nishino has officially become the head coach of the Thai national team.

At noon on July 17th, the Thai Football Association's homepage (FAT) announced that Mr. Akira Nishino will lead the Thai teams:

“The Thai Football Association is very pleased to officially announce Mr. Akira Nishino. was appointed as the coach of Thailand and Thailand U23. The former Japan boss will lead the "Elephant War" to compete in the 2022 World Cup qualifier, the second Asian Cup, 2019 SEA Games and 2020 AFC U23 Championship".

"The appointment of Nishino marks a milestone for Thai football because this is the first time an Asian coach has led Thailand. The official signing ceremony will take place after a press conference in Japan, which takes place on July 19th. Evaluation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying results will also be answered in this press conference”, the FAT newsletter contained a paragraph.

This announcement ended all previous speculation when the Japanese press once quoted Mr. Nishino's interview as saying that he denied to lead Thailand. According to the previous Thai press, the former Japanese coach will receive the highest salary ever in the history of Thai nationals with nearly 90,000 USD per month.
