Thai League changes the schedule to prepare for the match against Vietnam

The Thai Football Federation has rescheduled Thai League 1 and 2's latest rounds time so that the new coach Akira Nishino can have more time to prepare for the first match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Vietnam on September 5th.

Thailand football will set out to search for a third qualifying ticket for the Asian region of 12 teams, the final round for four spots for Doha 2022, with home matches against regional rivals Vietnam.

The battle elephants have been listed in Group G of Southeast Asian teams, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates, the seed team of the group.

FAT deputy secretary general Patit Supapong said the decision was made according to Akira Nishino's proposal, who became the new coach of the national team and Thailand U23 last week.

"All Thai League 1 and 2 matches are scheduled for August 21th but will be postponed until October 2nd", Patit announced on Thursday.

“However, matches scheduled to take place on the night of August 25-26 will still be played as usual. Clubs were recommended to the players to join the training camp one day after the matches in their respective tournaments.

"Coach Nishino was worried that some top clubs like True Bangkok United, Buriram United and Chiang Rai United had to play up to eight matches in August, which could affect players' fitness.

"The coach will attend some matches and pick a squad of 30 players in early August. The final squad will be announced later".

Patit added that they have not yet made the appointment of Thai coaches to support Nishino.

“The selected coaches need to sign contracts with FAT. There are many things to consider before the coaches and coaches are set up”.

Former Japanese coach Nishino, with terms of the contract yet to be disclosed, did not bring any assistant to Thailand.
