Thai-League still showed its superiority as it was increased the AFC Champions League slot by AFC, and the league is not postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Thai-League 2020 still begins as planned on February 14 while the coronavirus is still spreading in the whole of Asia.

Thai-League 1 2020 season has many changes. Thus, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be applied to all matches, with the relegation slots changed in order to make the tournament more appealing.

Supasin, Vice Chairman of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and Head of the Organizing Committee, said: "Thailand's VAR technology is not inferior to the world, it meets the FIFA standards".

Regarding the promotion and relegation teams of the Thai League, there are also changes to make the tournament more attractive and more competitive. Accordingly, the two champions and the runner-up Thai-League 2 have the direct slot to promote to Thai-League 1.

Whereas, the team finishing third to sixth place will come to the play-off to win the last promotion slot. Thai-League organizers have followed the first-class model of the UK (English Premier League) to increase its attractiveness and competitiveness.

Another superiority of Thai football compared to the rest of Southeast Asia is that the AFC Champions League slot of Thailand is increased by AFC. In the 2020 season, the Thai-League champion and FA Cup champion will advance directly to the group stage of the AFC Champions League.

The two runners-up of the two above tournaments are given half a slot for each team, which means they must attend the play-off round.
