'We did not dismiss anyone because of not being a virgin. She is still a virgin'

'We did not dismiss anyone because of not being a virgin. She is still a virgin'

Indonesian officials denied the fact that an athlete was dismissed to play in SEA Games because of not being a virgin. According to them, this fake news significantly impacted on the nation's dignity.

"Shalfa Avrila Siani was not dropped from the national gymnastics team on account of losing her virginity status. It is a piece of inaccurate news reported before. The truth is she lacked focus on training, as well as violated the team's discipline many times".

"As a result, her performance currently declined, so we must decide not to choose her in SEA Games' squad", said Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S Dewa Broto.

Broto also said the fake news, which told that Siani was disbanded because of not being a virgin, could dramatically affect Indonesian athletes' performance.

It seemed that Indonesia would launch an investigation about this scandal. But Broto affirmed he believed in what he said, and he would not hesitate to receive all the punishments if Siani's story were true.

Interestingly, to verify the information reported before is right or wrong, Indonesia demanded Siani to take a medical test. The result showed that she is still a virgin.

However, her mother did not agree with this outcome. She wanted Siani to take another test to prove her story is true, and she would not accept that discrimination.

She said: "Coaches in the Indonesian Gymnastics Association told that to me, and it is the reason making them dismiss my daughter. It tarnished her future, so I will do anything to regain justice for her".
