Philippines U22 captain: 'We will beat Malaysia & Timor Leste to reach the semi-finals'

Veteran midfielder Stephan Schrock of Philippines U22 voiced his support after losing to Myanmar U22 yesterday. He is confident in the opportunity to reach the semi-finals though the home team has not won any match in the tournament.

"Before boarding the bus, I told my teammates that if we play well next Friday, we will still go a long way in this tournament. We cannot sit here and cry due to the last defeat. We still have 2 matches in the next few days and this will be the door for us to continue", Stephan Schrock told Inquirer.

Philippines U22 has had a 1-2 defeat against Myanmar U22. Aung Kaung Mann and Win Naing Tun are the scorers for Myanmar U22, while the only player to score for Philippines U22 was Justin Bass.

"We played well in the second half, controlled the ball more, but played badly in the last 15 minutes", Schrock said of the match against Myanmar U22.

"Overall, the team is still improving. There are still two games ahead of us and there is still a chance".

After the loss, defender Justin Bass also felt disappointed. He was the only scorer for the Philippines U22. "I'm happy with my goal, but frustrated with the result", he said.

This defeat made the Philippines U22 temporarily fall to the 4th position in Group A, after a loss and a draw. Meanwhile, Myanmar U22 rose to second place with 4 points after 2 matches.

In the next two matches, Philippines U22 will take turns against Malaysia U22 and Timor-Leste U22.
