NEW CHALLENGE: After SEA Games, Indra Sjafri will become head coach of the senior team?

With impressive results at the 30th SEA Games men's football, head coach Indra Sjafri was included in one of the possible candidates for the hot seat at the Indonesia national football team.

After firing Simon McMenemy because of poor performance at the World Cup qualification round, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) still did not appoint a new team manager.

Among the possible candidates, there were three coaches namely Shin Tae Young, Luis Milla, and Ruud Gullit. However, things became more difficult in the negotiation progress.

While the Korean coach linked with a Chinese football club, Milla said he would not promise to achieve any titles with the Indonesian team.

In the case of Gullit, Netherlands football legend seemed to not be interested in a managerial role in Southeast Asia.

In that situation, Indra Sjafri named himself one of the best candidates to become the head coach of the Indonesia national football team.

At SEA Games men's football, he guided Young Garuda to qualify for the final match after eliminating other strong teams namely Singapore U22, Myanmar U22 and Thailand U22. Since the 2013 SEA Games, it is the greatest achievement they have had at men's football event.

Furthermore, Indra Sjafri also said that he appropriated the chance to work with the senior team. Unlike foreign coaches who just seek for a short-time contract, he seems to be a better choice at the moment.
