Malaysia eliminated 5 players from the list of 30th SEA Games men's football squad

Malaysia U22 coach Ong Kim Swee decided to eliminate 5 of the 29 players summoned for the SEA Games 30th focused training program.

The Malaysian Football Federation (FAM) in a recent media statement decided to eliminate five players on the Malaysia U22 list based on their performance in a friendly match against PJ City FC at Arena MPSJ Stadium, Subang Jaya on the November 15th.

Those five players are Ariff Ar-Rasyid Ariffin (PKNS FC), Amirul Ashraf Ariffin (Selangor), A. Shivan Pillay (PKNS FC), Nik Azli Nik Alias ​​(Kelantan) and Haziq Subri (Perak).

The remaining 24 players will join the Malaysian national team players in the training course on November 20th, the day after the match against Indonesia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Ong Kim Swee will announce the official list of 20 players attending the 30th SEA Games on November 22nd, before they enter the opening match against Myanmar U22 at Rizal Memorial Stadium, Manila on November 25th.

At SEA Games 30th, Malaysia is in Group A with hosts Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, and East Timor, while defending champion Thailand is in Group B with Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, and Brunei.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals on December 7th. At SEA Games 2017, Malaysia won a silver medal after losing 0-1 to Thailand in the final at Shah Alam stadium.
