Indonesian football talent won a medal at SEA Games... as a MUAY THAI fighter

Instead of joining the Indonesia U22 team to play at the 30th SEA Games, Muhammad Uchida Sudirman chose to compete at Muay Thai event. Interestingly, he won the bronze medal!

Currently, Muhammad Uchida Sudirman is the captain of the Indonesian club Persija Jakarta U16. He has been called up into the Indonesia U19 squad to play various games.

However, before pursuing his football career, Sudirman was a multisport athlete. When he was a child, he achieved some medals at karate and wushu tournaments.

The young defender said that he was fond of martial arts like his father, so he practiced as much as he can.

Consequently, at the 30th SEA Games, Sudirman competed at Muay Thai instead of playing football. He beat many opponents to win the bronze medal for the Indonesia team.

Speaking about that achievement, Sudirman said: "Thank God, I managed to win a medal for my country. I hope someday I will return to SEA Games to compete for the gold medal at another event".

It seems that young Indonesian talent can prepare well for other sports if he cannot become a professional football player.

At the Indonesia U19 squad, Sudirman also takes another important role: a translator.

Thanks to using English well, the young defender usually helps his teammate to answer the questions from international journalists. Sudirman says that he will learn harder to aim to play outside Indonesia in the future.
