China PR to play the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match in Thailand due to the coronavirus outbreak

The CFA is said to have successfully made an agreement with Thai government and the FAT to hold their 2022 FIFA World Cup matches against Maldives and Guam on the Land of Smiles.

China PR was due to have the home advantage in the match against Maldives in the second qualifying round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, because of the devastating outburst of the coronavirus, the venue had to be changed and Thailand was top on the list.

The following match against Guam will most likely cannot take place in Guam according to plan as well since the American gorvernment has decided to temporarily ban people with Chinese nationality to enter its soil owing to the concern of the Covid-19 pandemic and Guam is a part of the United States’ territory. The CFA is trying to persuade Guam to also hold the match in Thailand.

In the journey to seek for the second time to progress to the FIFA World Cup, China is ranking 2nd in group A with 2 wins, 1 draw and only 1 defeat to the group leaders Syria.

Previously, the pandemic also forced the China PR women’s national football team to give up on their home advantage in the crucial 2020 Olympics playoffs against Korea Republic.
