Visiting Johor Darul Ta'zim, Podolski set to play in Malaysia?

It seems that Lukas Podolski will play for the Malaysia Super League champion Johor Darul Ta'zim in the 2020 season.

Yesterday, Lukas Podolski visited the training ground of the Malaysian club Johor Darul Ta'zim, taking some photos with the club's representation. It fortifies the fact that the former player of Premier League club Arsenal will play in the Malaysia Super League next season.

Even the Johor Darul Ta'zim owner Tunku Ismail Idris also confirms that Podolski is interested in playing for the Malaysian champion, and both parties are negotiating.

If that deal becomes true, it will be one of the most surprising news in Southeast Asian football in 2020, following the appearance of Michael Essien in the Indonesian club Persib Bandung in 2017.

In the past, Podolski used to play for numerous European clubs namely FC Koln, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter Milan, and Galatasaray.

Since leaving the Turkish club in 2017, he moved to Asia to play for the J1 League club Vissel Kobe, scoring 17 goals in 60 matches.

He won the only title with the Japanese club a few days ago when Vissel Kobe became the champion of the 2019 Emperor's Cup, beating Kashima Antlers in the final match by a 2-0 score.

At the international level, Podolski capped 130 matches for the German national football team between 2004 and 2017, scoring 49 goals.
