Dream set to end too soon? Osvaldo Haay may leave Persija Jakarta after 1 season

Although Osvaldo Haay surprises Indonesian fans by signing with Persija Jakarta, he may not stay at the club until the 2021 season.

At the moment, striker Osvaldo Haay officially becomes a player of Persija Jakarta, wearing shirt number 46 at the club. According to Persija Jakarta officials, his yearly salary is about 4.4 billion Indonesian Rupiah, which equals to $322,000.

However, that amount is slightly lower than that of his new teammate Evan Dimas, who receives 5.2 billion Indonesian Rupiah a year.

Moreover, there are signs showing that Osvaldo Haay is just a short-term contract of Persija Jakarta when the duration is only one year.

As a result, Haay has the right to leave Persija Jakarta at the end of the 2020 season after the termination of the contract, which allows him free to choose any clubs to play for next year.

In terms of Persija Jakarta, they have many reasons to not sign a long-term contract with Haay. Firstly, he recently proved himself at the 30th SEA Games men's football event, scoring 8 goals in that competition to become the top scorer.

Before that, his performance at both club and international levels are not impressive.

Moreover, Haay had the debut match for the Indonesia national football team in 2017, however, he just capped 5 times, scoring only one goal. Last season, he had only 6 goals in the Indonesian Liga 1.
