Collaborating with Alaves, Persija Jakarta aims for bringing Indonesian stars to Europe

To create more chance for Indonesian players to play for European clubs, Persija Jakarta announced the collaboration with Spanish club Deportivo Alaves.

According to Deportivo Alaves' representative, the Spanish club would help Indonesian counterparts develop young players as well as improve coaches' quality. Agreeing with Alaves, Persija Jakarta's CEO Ferry Paulus said that the collaboration was the best way for both sides at the moment.

While Persija Jakarta benefits from the cutting-edge football training and developing systems from Spain, Alaves may take advantage of finding young Indonesian players to add them to their squad.

Persija Jakarta announced the collaboration after having a disappointing season at the 2019 Indonesian Liga 1. Although they were the 2018 champion, Persija Jakarta showed a terrible form this year, ending with the tenth position.

Moreover, there were times when they dropped to the relegation zone before bouncing back thanks to some positive results. Consequently, they need to have vital changes to improve their output in the future.

In terms of Deportivo Alaves, they are standing at the 15th position of the 2019/20 La Liga table. Recently, they also invited a Southeast Asian player, Vietnamese midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh, to train with their team in Spain.

However, Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC, the current club of Nguyen Tuan Anh, said that they had no plan to let him play football abroad next year.
