Yokohama Marinos, the J-League new champion has recently paid 1 million euros to sign the defender Theerathon Bunmathan from Muangthong United Club.

After a year playing at J-League on loan, Theerathon Bunmathan has played 25/34 matches and scored three goals for Yokohama Marinos. At the last game of the season against Tokyo FC, the Thai defender was the scorer of the opening goal, helping the home team win and step up to the J League title.

As the first Southeast Asian player to win the Japan Professional Football Championship, Theerathon is also awarded the Best Footballer of the Thai team by the Thai Football Federation.

Commenting on his Southeast Asian player, Yokohama F Marinos head coach Ange Postecoglou said: “Theerathon is a player with good character and discipline, he always has the desire to improve himself every day. Although he's not young, I think Theerathon might be better. With such a player, of course, I really need his service”.

Thai media revealed that, with a transfer price of 1 million euros, Theerathon will become a player of Yokohama Marinos within three years. Each month, the captain of "War Elephant" pocketed 1.2 million baht.
