Thai player Theerathon Bunmathan Bunmathan scored his first goal in the J1 League with a beautiful strike on Saturday when Yokohama F. Marinos beat Gamba Osaka 3-1.

After impressing with Vissel Kobe last season, Theerathon Bunmathan joined Marinos earlier this year with a similar loan deal from Muangthong United and has been in a great form so far.

But, with all his left-back contributions, he still didn't get his first goal in the Japanese first division until Saturday - and it was a much-anticipated goal.

Receiving the ball from outside the box, 29-year-old goalkeeper Masaaki Higashiguchi on the opponent could only watch as he took a shot from 22 meters into the far corner.

Marcos Junior then doubled the home side advantage in the 53rd minute and although Kosuke Onose reduced the lead to one goal for Gamba, Keita Endo still scored a third goal for Yokohama to seal the victory when 12 minutes remaining match.

This result means Marinos continue to hold third place, 7 points behind leaders Tokyo FC when they seek to participate in the AFC Champions League for the first time since 2014.

After this match, Theerathon will fly back to Thailand to join forces with teammates to prepare for the match against Vietnam in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Asia on Thammasat Stadium on September 5th.
