J.League suspended due to COVID-19

Numerous tiers of the Japanse football system have been suspended owing to the escalating of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The executive board of the @J.League@ has decided to postpone the upcoming fixtures of the top-tier J1 League, second-tier J2 League and other levels in the system till at list mid-March.

Japan is now the country with the third most infected cases of the coronavirus with 160 confirmed carrying the deadly virus.

The Japanese government and health experts have determined that the next few weeks will be crucial in the fight against the pandemic, thus the safety measure of suspending matches at the J.League is very much needed.

J.League has just got its inaugural matchday of the 2020 season underway last week but the next fixtures will not be able to take place until further notice.

Prior to Japan, Vietnam, Korea Republic and the center of the plague itself, China, have all adjusted their domestic league schedule to respond to the escalating of the pandemic.

COVID-19 has expanded its contagious region to Europe, where leagues like the Italian Serie A has also been forced to postpone some of its matches.
