Will Witan Sulaeman become the second Nguyen Cong Phuong?

Will Witan Sulaeman become the second Nguyen Cong Phuong?

Yesterday, the Indonesia U19 team player Witan Sulaeman agreed to sign with the Serbian club, FK Radnik Surdulica.

According to Dusan Bogdanovic, the agent of Witan Sulaeman, the young Indonesian star agreed to sign a 3.5-year contract with FK Radnik Surdulica, keeping him at the club until summer 2023.

However, it did not seem that the Serbian side decided to recruit him because of his talent.

Although FK Radnik Surdulica is currently standing at the mid-table of the Serbian SuperLiga, the chance for Witan Sulaeman to play for the senior team is very small, especially when he does not have any experience to play at higher levels compared to the Indonesian Liga 1.

Like the fellow countryman Witan Sulaeman, Egy Maulana surprised Indonesian supporters when he moved to the Polish side Lechia Gdansk, wearing the number 10 shirt.

The young Indonesian star was also named as one of the 60 most talented and promising players born in the year 2000 by The Guardian in 2017, however, his career was being ruined in Poland.

In two recent seasons, Egy Maulana played only 4 matches for the senior team, scoring no goals.

As a result, he also lost the chance to represent the Indonesia national football team. The same story also happened to Vietnamese Messi Nguyen Cong Phuong, who just decided to return to Vietnam to save his football career.

"Many Southeast Asian players moved to Europe to play football without having any preparations", says Thai legend Kiatisuk Senamuang. "They should know more about the language, culture to adapt to the next destination".
