STAY AT HOME: Indonesia U19 team's plan to train abroad can be canceled

PSSI considered canceling the plan to hold a training camp in Japan and South Korea due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Initially, PSSI wanted to a training camp for Indonesia U19 team players in Japan and South Korea ahead of the 2021 FIFA World Cup U20. However, things may change because of the outbreak of coronavirus in East Asia.

Speaking to the Indonesian media, PSSI Deputy Chairperson Cucu Somantri admitted that they considered canceling the trip because the first priority is to secure the health of young Indonesian players.

He also said the same thing to the head coach Shin Tae Yong, who prepared very well for his players to compete in the following competitions.

Before that, Indonesia U19 traveled to Thailand to play some friendly matches with South Korean clubs. Although they won only one game and losing all the remaining ones, coach Shin Tae Yong was still optimistic about the results.

"Indonesian players proved that they did not fear everything, and they were ready to challenge other stronger teams compared to them", says Shin Tae Yong.

The top target of the South Korean manager with the Indonesia U19 team is to help them prepare well for the 2021 FIFA World Cup U20 in which they will be the host country.

Moreover, before thinking about the 2021 FIFA World Cup U20 campaign, he has to compete against his fellow countryman Park Hang Seo in the 2020 AFF Cup.
