Inspired by Park, Shin Tae Yong decides to work with Indonesia team

Speaking about the next destination in the career, Shin Tae Yong said he would choose to become the head coach of the Indonesia national football team.

"The negotiation progress between PSSI and I was very good", said Shin Tae Yong. "It is almost complete, and we just need to agree with some small details".

The former South Korea national football team manager said that he chose to work in Indonesia instead of China because he wanted to challenge himself in Southeast Asia football.

He believed that it was the best way to improve his strength, as Indonesian football showed that they had the potential to become one of the best teams in Asia at the moment.

Recently, the Indonesia U22 team advanced to the final match of the 30th SEA Games men's football event, when they lost Vietnam U22 guided by Shin's fellow countryman Park Hang Seo.

Interestingly, Shin Tae Yong also stressed that Park's success with Vietnamese football was the main reason for making him decide to work with the Indonesia team.

He said: "I want to be like Park Hang Seo, who brought the philosophy of Korean football to Southeast Asia. I believe the Korean football style can fit Indonesian football like Park did with Vietnam national football team".

Compared to Park, Shin's profile is much more impressive. Before managing the South Korea team to play in the 2018 World Cup, he conquered the AFC Champions League title with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma in 2010.

He is considered one of the best South Korean managers at the moment.
