Austalian legend Tim Cahill becomes FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ambassador

Former Everton player and Australia international Tim Cahill has joined FIFA’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) as an official ambassador.

The Australian star will be accompanied by other legends like Xavi, Samuel Eto’o, Cafu to ensure a high-profile image for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy was established in 2011 with the noble cause of suggesting venues, operation and working with sponsors, investors to fund for the building of facilities, services for the first World Cup to be held in the Arab region.

The committee is also responsible for spreading uplifting World Cup messages and expands the influence of the world's biggest football event far beyond the sports limit, promoting the development of people’s lives not just in the area but also all over the globe.

Tim Cahill had a glorious career, in which he roamed over three continents and once a key player of English Premier League side Everton. The attacker is holding the goalscoring record of the Australia national football team with 50 times netting.

Cahill had scored in three World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014) and put the ball in the net for the first time in history for The Socceroos also at the World Cup and AFC Asian Cup.

After retiring from his professional footballer career last year, the renowned striker immediately started his UEFA A license course and aimed for UEFA Pro Licence afterward.

Cahill has also been very active with numerous community activities like “Tim Cahill Coaching Clinics’’, ‘‘Tim Cahill All-Star Academy’’. Especially, the annual Foxtel Tim Cahill Academy Ambitions Tour has reached its fourth year, which acts as a football camp in five days for boys and girls aged 13 to 16.

The Australian legend has also built a close relationship with Qatar over the years, combining with his impressive résumé that makes him perfect for the job.

As an SC’s ambassador, Tim Cahill soon performed his duty and coached at a workshop for school children at Doha’s Aspire Academy.
