Nishino targets "impossible mission" for Thailand in the World Cup qualification round

Nishino targets

To qualify the second round, coach Akira Nishino aims to win all 3 following matches against Malaysia, Indonesia, and U.A.E.

Thailand gained only 1 point in the match against Vietnam, but it was the game in which they played much better than the home team. If Theerathon Bunmathan had converted the penalty kick into a goal, Thailand would have had 3 points at My Dinh Stadium.

As a result, although Thailand dropped to third place in Group G, the difference between them and the leading team is not too far. Currently, Thailand has 8 points, 3 points lower than Vietnam. That difference can be leveled after 1 winning match.

Consequently, the Japanese coach targets a big goal for the Thailand team to finish the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification round as a leading team of Group G. To make it true, the Nishino wants his team to win all 3 remaining matches to gain 9 points.

It seems to be quite easy with the games against Malaysia and Indonesia because these are the matches that Thailand will play at their home ground.

However, things will be different when they face the U.A.E as a visitor. Because of that, Nishino's target is not possible at the moment.

"The current situation is not good for us, but we must keep fighting until the final match. Therefore, we have no choice but to win all 3 remaining matches. To do that, I will work harder to find out new players for Thailand national football team.

I believe we need to do it to make a stronger team. The following matches can be as tough as we face Vietnam, but we must get through all the obstacles to achieve the goal", Nishino added.
