Lee Kang-in won the Best Young Player award in Asia

In the AFC Awards 2019, midfielder Lee Kang-in was named the Best Young Player by the Asian Football Federation (AFC).

AFC homepage recently announced Lee Kang In as the winner of the Best Young Player award. Korean young star has defeated 2 nominees in the shortlist: Doan Van Hau (Vietnam) and Hiroki Abe (Japan).

“Lee was born in Incheon, he became famous after joining the Valencia Academy academy when he was 10 years old. Lee debuted in the Copa del Rey, becoming the youngest Korean player ever to appear in a European match. The attacking midfielder is a key member of the South Korean team at the 2019 FIFA World Cup U20. He became an inspiration to help the home team reach the final and receive the Golden Shoe award”, AFC honored Lee Kang-in.

Outstanding performance at the 2019 FIFA World Cup U20 is an important factor for Lee Kang-in to win the award. In September, he became the youngest foreign player ever to score in La Liga. The 18-year-old youngster debuted in South Korea's shirt in September and is an important part of his nation's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The AFC Awards is an annual award organized by the most powerful authority of Asian football. Son Heung Min got this award last year.
