Joshua Johan Bechler - young German talents closes in naturalization and wearing Malaysian football shirts

Joshua Johan Bechler, a 16-year-old football player with Malaysian-German parents, has revealed that he wants to represent the Malaysian national team someday.

The teenage player is playing in the left-back position for German club SG Rot-Weiss Frankfurt with their U17 squad and aims to play for Malaysia football, including at the youth level.

Joshua Johan Bechler, brother of Julian Johan Bechler goalkeeper in Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) III, submitted necessary documents to FAM with the intention of applying for Malaysian citizenship, according to the Bernama News Agency.

Malaysia earlier this month revealed that it was considering to approve the two original players wearing Harimau Malaya. They said that a 21-year-old player played in Germany and an 18-year-old England player is being considered for the national team.

Meanwhile, Malaysia coach Brad Maloney said that Joshua would have to be evaluated to see if it was suitable for the national team.

“All players need to be judged before joining my team. I don't know much about him, so I have to consider it first”, Maloney, who is preparing for the 2019 AFF U18 Championship, will be held in Vietnam from August 6th to 19th, telling Bernama.
