Mr. Akira Nishino is in discussion with the Thai Football Federation (FAT) to find a new fitness assistant as well goalkeeper coach for the upcoming tournaments.

According to Livesportasia source, coach Akira Nishino is in the process of discussing with FAT to change some positions in the coaching team of Thailand. The Japanese strategist wanted to find a new fitness assistant and goalkeeping coach before the "Elephant War" returned to prepare for the second round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

FAT spokesman said coach Nishino will choose a suitable name this week. However, he is unlikely to retain the coaching staff of the U23 team. At the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, Thailand was eliminated in the quarterfinals after losing to Saudi Arabia with a score of 0-1.

The replacement occurs because fitness coach Nebojsa Stamenkovic and goalkeeper coach Sasa Todic are both unextended after the end of their contract. The duo was appointed in April 2017 to assist former Thailand national football team coach Milovan Rajevac.

The SEA Games 30th is the last tournament that Stamenkovic and Todic accompanied by Thai football. Nishino's team had an unforgettable tournament when they were eliminated from the group stage despite being the defending champion.

Mr. Todic also got involved with Coach Park Hang-Seo in two matches against Vietnam in the second round of the 2022 World Cup. After a 0-0 draw at My Dinh Stadium, the two sides exchanged words and the Thai goalkeeper coach had a gesture that was thought to disdain the height of the Korean strategist.

Afterward, Mr. Todic explained that he did not mean to offend his colleagues. However, his actions criticized by the media and Asian fans severely. Vietnam Football Federation sent a petition to AFC. In the end, FIFA issued no penalties for the Serbian goalkeeper coach.

At the moment, Mr.Nishino has 3 Thai assistant coaches: Totchtawan Sripan, Anurak Srikerd, Issara Sritaro, plus interpreter Natakorn Thiamkeerakul. This amount is still in shortage compared to tens of assistants for Vietnam's Park Hang Seo.

On March 26th, Thailand will host Indonesia at home before having a trip to the UAE. In the final match, coach Nishino and his team will face Malaysia. Currently, "War Elephants" is ranked third in Group G with 8 points.

After consecutive failed tournaments, the pressure is now increasing for coach Akira Nishino. In case he continues to fail at the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier, the Japanese strategist may lose his job.
