Cambodia head coach suddenly joins the Vitesse Arnhem

Midfielder Keisuke Honda has joined Vitesse Arnhem Club on a contract until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Keisuke Honda is now the head coach of the Cambodia national football team, but he continues to play football. After parting from Melbourne Victory, Honda chose Vitesse as a new destination. According to the Japan Times, Honda came to Vitesse in October to persuade the club to sign a one-year contract with him.

Vitesse is playing in the Eredivisie 2019/20 tournament (highest division in the Netherlands. In 2008, Honda played for another Dutch club, VVV-Venlo.

Japan Times revealed Honda joined the Dutch league because he wanted to return to the top environment. If Honda performs well with Vitesse, Honda can win an over-age capacity to attend the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with Japan. The former AC Milan midfielder is waiting to receive a work permit to play with Vitesse Arnhem, this is expected to be done after an international series in mid-November.

The 1986 midfielder has played for six clubs since 2005. His time at AC Milan has helped Honda assert the talents of Asia's leading star. He played 92 matches for the San Siro team, scoring 11 goals.

Honda has 98 matches for Japan and scored 37 goals. He parted ways with "Green Samurai" after the 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.
