"South Korean Van Dijk" aims to play in Europe next year

After an impressive performance at the 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, defender Kim Min Jae said that he considered playing in Europe in 2020.

At the 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, Kim Min Jae was voted the best defender of the competition. Thanks to his excellent form, South Korea was the only team that did not concede any goal at the competition.

Moreover, the 23-year-old centre-back was also very strong in the air, with one goal scored in the match against China. As a result, he was considered the best defender in South Korea at the moment.

"It is a great competition, a great achievement for me", said Kim Min Jae, who was called "Van Dijk of South Korea" because of his strong playing style.

"I am honored to receive a personal award for my performance. If I had been luckier in those matches, I would have been scored more than one goal. However, it is of great importance to help the team become the champion with no conceded goals".

Speaking about the year 2019, when he moved from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to Beijing Guoan, Kim Min Jae said it did not affect his ability. Unlike what people thought, the Chinese Super League was a good environment for young defenders to improve their level.

To survive at that league, they need to stop world-class midfielders and strikers who played for the best teams in Europe before. As a result, it was a vital time for Kim Min Jae before thinking about playing football in Europe.
