Coach Li Tie: "Chinese players are too lazy"

Coach Li Tie:

Answering about the poor performance of the China team in the 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, coach Li Tie said that his players did not work hard enough to play in an official competition.

With the experience of a world-class player, Li knows hard work is the only way to make footballers better. However, he does not see that in the China national football team.

It seems that they earn too much money at their clubs, so they do not want to play at their best for the international level.

As a result, the China team repeatedly had poor results in the current matches, which was one of the reasons making Marcello Lippi resign. On the day Lippi quit his job, he said that he could not find any possible way to make players play as he wanted.

Agreeing with his predecessor, Li said: "We do not have much time for training setpiece, but the more important thing is our players did not work hard".

Li Tie used to be one of the highest regarded Chinese players of his generation. In the past, he is a part of the China team competing in the 2002 World Cup. After that, he moved to England to play for the Premier League club, Everton.

Under the guidance of manager David Moyes, Li became a well-rounded defensive midfielder who helped the club achieve a seventh place in the 2002/03 season. That impressive performance made Everton decide to pay £1.2 million for him in the summer of 2003.
