Transfer Rumor: Chanathip Songkrasin to Shanghai SIPG for 2 million euros?

Source from Thailand and China says that Chinese Super League's giant Shanghai SIPG is approaching Chanathip Songkrasin. Moreover, they are ready to pay Consadole Sapporo 2 million euros to own the Thai star often called "Messi of Thailand".

Although Shanghai SIPG already has 3 world-class players namely Marko Arnautovic, Oscar and Hulk, they want to sign more good players to strengthen their team. That is why they are aiming at Chanathip, the best player in South East Asia at the moment. According to a source close to Shanghai SIPG's management board, the current champion of the Chinese Super League are willing to pay 2 million euros to have Chanathip's signature.

However, if Shanghai SIPG wants to acquire Chanathip, they will have to pay much more than 2 million euros. His current market value is around 2.2 million euros, which is higher than the bid made by Shanghai SIPG. Moreover, the contract signed between Chanathip and Consadole Sapporo, his current club, has a clause noting that any team that wants to buy Chanathip will pay 5.5 million euros. It is a reasonable price for the player called "Messi of Thailand", who experiences great success in Japan.

In 2017, Consadole Sapporo paid 500 thousand euros for Muangthong United to borrow Chanathip in 18 months. He immediately proved himself in Japan by playing an integral part in the club's attacking system. In 2018 J.League 1, Chanathip was the most valuable player of Consadole Sapporo. After that, he was selected into J.League Best XI, which made him become the most successful player of South East Asian who has played in Japan. His form impressed so highly that Consadole Sapporo decided to officially own him by paying 2.4 million euros in February.
