Follow Wu Lei, "Robben of China" set to play in La Liga

Follow Wu Lei,

In the winter transfer window, Wei Shihao will likely join the Spanish club Granada with a record transfer deal.

At 24, Wei Shihao started his professional career in Portugal before returning to China two years ago. As a right-footed left-winger, his playing style has many similarities with Arjen Robben.

In the 2019 Chinese Super League, Wei Shihao played a vital role that helped Guangzhou Evergrande become the champion. He played 25 games, scoring eleven goals and assisting six times.

Currently, Wei Shihao is the second-best player among Chinese attackers after Wu Lei. As a result, he is seeking a chance to play football abroad as his fellow countryman did.

Like Wulei, Wei Shihao is also at sight of numerous Spanish clubs. But it seems that he will join Granada in January.

Coincidentally, the owner of the newly-promoted La Liga club is a Chinese businessman named Jiang Lizhang. Besides Granada, he also owns the Chinese club Chongqing Dangdai Lifan.

In the case of Wei Shihao, a few years ago he said that he always wanted to play football in Europe if he had an opportunity. However, he just wanted to leave China after he is the best player in the Chinese Super League.

"It is very hard to play in top leagues if you do not prove yourself in China", said Wei Shihao.
