Muangthong United is reported to have approached and had final negotiations with Vietnam national football team’s midfielder Do Hung Dung.

The Thai side’s representative is said to be in Vietnam at the moment to finish a loan agreement with Do Hung Dung and his current club – Vietnamese champions Hanoi FC. The price at which Hanoi FC would release their star player is no less than $650,000.

Nevertheless, Muangthong United have to move quickly since Thailand’s transfer window will be closed by 3 February. If the deal is still not set by then, Thai League 1’s former champions will have to wait till the second phase of the league in order to have Hung Dung in their squad.

Should the negotiation goes well, the 26-year-old will be one of the most expensive Vietnamese footballers ever, along with the likes of Doan Van Hau, Nguyen Cong Phuong.

Do Hung Dung has demonstrated a phenomenal form in recent years, both at club and international level. The midfielder has had 95 appearances for Hanoi FC and 29 caps for the national and Olympic teams.

His resilience and quick thinking on the field got him the nickname “Third Lung”, much like the Asian football legend Ji-Sung Park. Hung Dung has been an essential part of Hanoi FC’s consecutive V-League champions squad (2018,2019), as well as the Vietnam national and Olympic team in the journey to the championships at AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 and the 30th SEA Games.

Joining Muangthong United, Do Hung Dung will be accompanied by his teammate at the national team – Dang Van Lam. The talented goalkeeper made his move to Thailand last season and has been firmly building up his position in the woodwork. Recently, his two amazing penalty saves propelled Muangthong United to the Leo Cup’s final.
