Indonesia U23 awaits for friendly match against Iran U23 right before the 30th SEA Games

Indonesia U23 is expected to face Iran, one of Asia's football powers, in a friendly match to be held in November this year.

The match will be part of Garuda Muda's preparation for the 2019 SEA Games men's soccer tournament to be held in the Philippines from November 30th to December 11th.

"We have arranged a friendly match with Iran U23 as part of the momentum, just two weeks before they came to the Philippines," said Rat Ratu Tisha Destria, Indonesia's secretary general of the Football Federation (PSSI).

PSSI Secretary General also revealed that the federation is looking for more opponents to U23 Games to compete during September and October.

“We are looking for teams to play during September and October. We are waiting for the final proposal on training camp from head coach Indra Sjafri, ”she added.

"Iran will be the team's toughest opponent, so we will arrange the matches as well as the momentum for the big game," Tisha added.

Indonesia was the champion in the South East Asia U22 tournament 2019 after defeating Thailand 2-1 in the final held at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium in Cambodia in February this year.
