Former Premier League star Lee Chung-yong to return to Korea

Midfielder Lee Chung-yong has finished his transfer to K League’s side Ulsan Hyundai from German club VfL Bochum, ending the spell of over ten years playing in Europe.

The Korean started his professional carrer at his hometown’s club, FC Seoul, and had played there for six years, since 2004 to 2009. During the time at FC Seoul, he was constantly improving his performance, showcasing his skills, speed and smart plays.

These attributes caught the eyes of English Premier League’s Bolton Wanderers, which resulted in the move to the English soil right after ending the contract with FC Seoul. He played 176 games and scored 17 goals for the club in seven years.

After saying goodbye to Bolton Wanderers in 2015, he continued his journey at England’s top-tier in the colors Crystal Palace, where he served for another three seasons until he came to Germany to play for VfL Bochum in 2018.

At the international level, the 31-year-old has had 89 caps and 9 goals for the Korea national team.
