FIFA ranking update: Japan becomes the strongest team in Asia, Myanmar climbs to highest-ever position in 19 years

Today, FIFA announced the world ranking of men's football teams. According to that, Myanmar is witnessing a new milestone in its football history.

As of November, the Japan national football team remains stable at the 28th position in FIFA men's ranking. They became the best team in Asia at the moment because of the fact that the former strongest, Iran, dropped from 27th to 33rd place.

The same phenomenon happened to the South Korea team which is standing at 41st compared to 39th in the previous month.

In the case of Southeast Asia, Vietnam is still the strongest team with 94th place in the world ranking. They are also the only team in Southeast Asia included in the top 15 strongest Asian nations.

But the most impressive nation is Myanmar. In November, they climbed from 147th to 136th position. This is the best result in 19 years, which shows the success of investments in football in recent years.

However, it is not the best place Myanmar national football has achieved. In the past, they used to be the runner-up team in the 1968 Asian Cup.

After that, they declined because of many factors, which made them became one of Asia's weakest football teams. Things have become different since the 2010s when they launched a remarkable reform in football.

As a result, Myanmar U20 stunned Asia by qualifying for the 2015 U20 World Cup, and many great achievements after that.
