The Best Footballer in Asia 2019 award has officially identified its owner, and it continues to be a very familiar name: Son Heung-min.

Recently, the race to the title of the Best Footballer in Asia 2019 has officially ended. As expectedly, with a high score of 258, Son Heung-min - the star playing in the English Premier League is officially the owner of the most Asian noble title for the individual in the past year.

For Son Heung-min, this award is the third consecutive year the star playing for Tottenham is honored as the Best Footballer in Asia, bringing the total number of Asian Ballon d'Or titles of this player to the number 5.

The footballer who is ranked second is Akram Afif. ASEAN football has 2 names in the final list of Best Footballer in Asia nominees. Thus, Thailand defender Theerathon Bunmathan got 10 points and ranked 12th on the list after a brilliant year in the J1 League. Otherwise,  Vietnam's Nguyen Quang Hai got 8 points in the election and ranked 17/24.

After a year playing at J-League on loan, Theerathon Bunmathan has played 25/34 matches and scored three goals for Yokohama Marinos. At the last game of the season against Tokyo FC, the Thai defender was the scorer of the opening goal, helping the home team win and step up to the J League title. Recently, Yokohama Marinos has paid 1 million euros to officially sign Theerathon Bunmathan from Muangthong United.
