South Korea U23 manager confident in calling up Lee Kang In for AFC U23 Championship

South Korea U23 manager confident in calling up Lee Kang In for AFC U23 Championship

Speaking in front of South Korean reporters, manager Kim Hak Bum believed that South Kore U23 team could have midfielder Lee Kang In in the following days.

Before starting the adventure at the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, South Korea U23 team will have two private practice games against Saudi Arabia and Australia. After that, they will play the first game at the group stage against China U23 on January 9th.

Although South Korea U23 was drawn into the death group of the competition, manager Kim Hak Bum was still confident that his team would advance to the semi-finals to qualify for the 2020 Olympics men's football event.

At the previous competition, the South Korea U23 team was eliminated by then-champion Uzbekistan, one of three opponents of South Korea at the group stage of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship.

Because of that, they had another reason to dominate before thinking about the knock-out stage. To make it easier, they considered choosing some players who were playing for European clubs, including Lee Kang In.

Speaking about that, manager Kim Hak Bum admitted being interested in him, but he pointed out that he was not the only target. In some cases, South Korea U23 could call up Hwang Hee Chan or South Korean Messi Lee Seung Woo.

However, calling them was much more difficult than Lee Kang In because of their current situation. While Hwang Hee Chan was an irreplaceable player of Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, Lee Seung Woo has hardly played since he moved to Sint Truiden four months ago.
