South Korea reveals U23 squad, waiting for Lee Kang In

Recently, South Korea released the South Korea U23 men's football team squad for the AFC U23 Championship 2020.

In the tournament's regulations, teams can name 23 players in the squad. However, there were just 22 men in the South Korea U23 team, which means they could add one more player before sending the final list to AFC.

Among 22 players named, most of them currently played for either Japanese or South Korean clubs. Because of that, they needed no time to play well with each other.

To qualify for the 2020 Olympics, at least South Korea U23 team has to advance to the semi-finals of the AFC U23 Championship 2020.

As a result, they tried to call up many young players who were playing for European clubs to serve the U23 team in January. One of them was Jeong Woo Yeong, the striker of German club SC Freiburg, but he was not the only choice.

It seemed that KFA was managing to discuss with some other overseas players, who could be Hwang Hee Chan or Lee Kang In.

While the former played an irreplaceable at Red Bull Salzburg's squad, the latter hardly had a chance to play for Valencia FC this season. After calling up one of them, South Korea U23 will start playing on January 9th, when they face against China U23 team.
