Qatar U23 came back to set up a dramatic draw against Iran U23

Qatar U23 had to play very hard to draw Iran U23 in a friendly match before the 2020 AFC U23 Championship.

Qatar U23 has confronted Iran U23 in the last friendly match before the two teams come to Thailand to attend the 2020 AFC U23 Championship.

Reza Shekari broke the deadlock in the 28th minute from the penalty spot before Mehdi Qaedi doubled the lead for Iran U23 6 minutes later. However, Qatar U23 came back dramatically with 2 goals of Abdulrasheed Umaru Ibrahim in the 83rd and 90th minutes to set the 2-2 draw.

At the 2020 AFC U23 Championship, Iran fell into Group C with defending champion Uzbekistan, China and South Korea and many considered this a 'death group'. Meanwhile, Qatar also fell into a difficult group with the presence of Japan, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

The 2020 AFC U23 Championship in Thailand will serve as the standard qualifier of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the top three teams and the host Japan will represent Asia to attend the Olympics tournament.
