LIKE A TEAM, LIKE A FAMILY: Thailand U23 squad include 2 PAIRS OF BROTHERS

Akira Nishino might think about strengthening the Thailand U23 team by letting family members play alongside each other, so he picked up two pairs of brothers.

Supachok Sarachat and Suphanat Mueanta are brothers as they said when Suphanat was called up to the Thailand national football team for the first time last June.

They revealed that while Supachok uses maternal surname, Suphanat uses paternal surname, so many Thai supporters did not know about their relationship.

"Playing for Thailand teams with my brother has been my dream since I was a child, and I am very happy to have a chance to do that", said Suphanat Mueanta. Both Supachok and Suphanat are rising stars of Thai football at the moment.

While the older is the youngest player scoring a hat-trick in the Thai League 1 history, the younger became the youngest ever goalscorer in Thai League 1 and AFC Champions League.

At 17, Suphanat and his big brother play an integral part in the Thailand team, and they proved that by an impressive performance in the first match of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship.

It was Supachok who passed the ball to Suphanat to help his little brother score the opening goal against the Bahrain U23 team. After that, they repeatedly created many chances to shoot in the penalty area of the opponents.

Watching Supachok play alongside Suphanat, people can see that they understand each other very well. However, Supachok and Suphanat is not the only pair of brothers in the Thailand U23 squad.

Coach Akira Nishino also brought the twin Thitavee Aksornsri and Thitathorn Aksornsri to the competition, naming the latter at the starting lineup while the former was on the bench. They were members of the Police Tero team, who just got promoted to the Thai League 1 next season.
