Irani young star confident to win the 2020 AFC U23 Championship

Speaking ahead the match against Uzbekistan U23, Irani player Allahyar Sayyadmanesh said that he and his teammates would have beaten the defending champion.

In the first match against Uzbekistan U23, the Iran team conceded in the first half, however, they managed to equalize the score to gain one point. But Irani players believed that they would have beaten the defending champion of the AFC U23 Championship because they shot many times.

According to striker Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, his team was just unlucky because of not taking advantage of their chances. Consequently, they scored only one goal instead of having more ones in the first fixture.

Nevertheless, Sayyadmanesh believed that the performance of the Iran U23 team against the defending champion proved that they could compete against other strong opponents to advance to the quarter-finals.

Moreover, aiming for qualifying for the 2020 Olympic men's football event was a possible target for the team. By winning the next game, they will gain more confidence to do that before playing against China U23 in the last match of the group stage.

"We just need to play against South Korea U23 as we did in the first match, and we will gain a victory", said Sayyadmanesh.

In terms of the Irani wonderkid, he performed impressively in the competition, proving that he would have a bright future with the national team in the following years.
